FAQ schema generator.Questions and answers machines can read.

Type the questions and answers from your page. The FAQPage JSON-LD is written as you go and ready to copy. Add as many questions as the page shows.

FAQ

Questions and answers that appear on the page. Bing and AI answers read them; Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health sites.

  1. Question 1

    Use the same words as on the page. Markup for questions the page does not show breaks Google's rules.

  2. Question 2

    Use the same words as on the page. Markup for questions the page does not show breaks Google's rules.

Your JSON-LD

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "FAQPage",
  "mainEntity": []
}
</script>

Still empty: Question. Google needs these for a rich result.

Paste the code into the page's head section, or anywhere in its body. On WordPress, a header and footer plugin or your SEO plugin's custom schema box does the job.

Who reads FAQ schema

AI answers
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews pull short question-and-answer pairs from pages; clean markup makes yours easy to lift and cite.
Bing
Bing still reads FAQ markup and can show it in its results.
Google
Google reads the markup but, since 2023, shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health sites.

Writing a good FAQ

Use real questions
Take them from customer emails, sales calls or Google's “People also ask” box for your topic.
Answer in the first sentence
One or two sentences that stand on their own. AI answers quote short, direct replies.
Match the page
Every question in the markup must appear on the page, word for word. Hidden questions break Google's rules.
One FAQ per page
Mark up the questions on the page they belong to; do not repeat the same FAQ across the whole site.

Only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites, since August 2023. Other sites can keep the markup; Google simply does not show the dropdowns for them.

Yes for most sites with a real FAQ. Bing and AI answer engines use it, it costs nothing, and it does no harm when it matches the page.

As many as the page shows. Three to ten focused questions is typical.

On the same page as the questions, in the head section or the body. Most SEO plugins and site builders have a custom code box for it.
